Talented Sportsperson
Every year Ashford Leisure Trust, together with Freedom Leisure, offers up to 20 sportspeople in the Borough of Ashford a one-year bursary to support them to develop in their chosen sport.
What are the benefits?
- £500 from Ashford Leisure Trust to support training costs, travel to meetings, coaching or training programmes. Please note that ALT will consider higher bursary amounts to those who travel abroad and compete internationally.
- One year of (age appropriate) membership to Freedom Leisure facilities at the Stour Centre and Julie Rose Stadium.
- Promotion of your achievements
- Branded merchandise
Who should apply?
- A member of a sports club who is showing talent but needs help to achieve their goals, for example, to attend meetings beyond Ashford or access a coaching course
- A person who has achieved success in their chosen sport, such as in competition or who has been selected to represent the sport at a higher level.
- Applicants must live in the Borough of Ashford and be a minimum of 11 years of age
- Preference will be given to those who also contribute to their sport, by supporting their club and encouraging others to participate.
Applications for 2027 will open on 1st September 2026.
